One of the main marketing areas of most smartphones is shooting photos and videos. Year after year, manufacturers are trying to come up with new ways to surprise mobile photography enthusiasts, demonstrating unsurpassed opportunities through promotional materials. However, from time to time it happens that manufacturers are convinced that the pictures allegedly taken using their smartphones were actually obtained using expensive SLR equipment. Huawei has now got into such a story.
As part of a promotional campaign in support of flagships with a Leica camera, the company launched a photo contest that accompanied an inspiring video with an example of work supposedly done on Huawei smartphones. As it turned out, there is among them a photograph taken with a Nikon D850 DSLR for $ 3,000. Ironically, this was discovered by one of the winners of the Apple photo contest, which in 2016 took second place with its frame on the iPhone 6. Huawei admitted its “cant”, apologized for it and reloaded the video without mentioning that the picture was taken using the brand’s smartphone. The incident itself, according to the company, happened due to an editor’s mistake who incorrectly inserted the caption, and the photos themselves are intended only to inspire participants to create their photo masterpieces using the Huawei technique. Note, Huawei is not the first time is in a similar situation. Over the past few years, the Nova 3 and P30 have been the “defendant” of such stories. In all cases, the company said that these pictures are only a visualization of the user experience with Huawei smartphones, and not a direct demonstration of the capabilities of their camera.
Well, it’s good that we, surveyors, are always there to show you the real capabilities of the cameras of modern smartphones. In fairness, at Huawei they are really high. #wajkewaje #huawei #iphonese2 #airpodspro
