Naples won the Italian Cup by defeating Juventus on penalties (4-2) on Wednesday in the final in Rome. Regulatory time ended 0-0. Dries Mertens, top scorer in Naples history since his semi-final goal against Inter, was replaced by Milik in the 67th minute. During regulation time, Naples shot twice on the post, by Insigne on a free kick in the first period (24th) and by Elmas at the very end of the game, after a first intervention by Buffon on Maksimovic (90th + 2). Third trophy for Mertens with Naples There was no overtime, the trophy was played directly on penalties. The first two Juventus shooters, Dybala (pushed aside by goalkeeper Meret) and Danilo (above), missed their attempt. All the Neapolitans scored. Naples then defeated Fiorentina 1-3 in the final, with a goal from Mertens. The Red Devil, who extended his contract on Wednesday, won a third trophy with the 'Partenopei', since he also won the Supercup in 2014. Juventus has the most wins in the competition with 13 wins. Naples succeeds Lazio in the charts.
