Recently, researchers from security software company Cybereason discovered a type of malware and called it EventBot, which disguised as a legitimate Android application (such as Adobe Flash or Microsoft Word for Android), abused Android's built-in access function to depth Access the device's operating system. The company's security researchers are currently alerting the public about the malware.

Once the malware is installed, the fake applications infected by EventBot will steal the passwords of more than 200 banking and cryptocurrency applications (including PayPal, Coinbase, CapitalOne and HSBC) and intercept them. With the victim's password, hackers can hack into their bank accounts, applications and wallets, thereby stealing the victim's funds. The malware can even quietly record every keystroke operation, and can read notifications of other installed applications, so that hackers can steal all information of the victim.

Researchers said that users should avoid using untrusted applications in third-party sites and stores. Most of these sites and stores will not screen their applications for malware.
